Operational Program to Support the Most Needy People
//////////////////////////////////////////
“I know my work is a drop in the ocean, but without it the ocean would be smaller.”
(Mother Teresa of Calcutta)
The Operational Programme to Support the Most Deprived People aims to be an instrument to combat poverty and social exclusion in Portugal. Considering that the main causes are structural, but aggravated by cyclical factors, the Programme was designed (with the aforementioned objectives as a focus) based on an intervention logic through food support and other basic consumer goods, as well as the development of accompanying measures that empower the most deprived people at various levels, thus promoting their inclusion.
The Program aims, through its activity, to reduce situations of vulnerability that put the integration of the most fragile people and families at risk, reinforcing the responses of existing public policies.
This is a mission that will allow us to be even closer to people and contribute, in addition to the work already carried out by the Social Inclusion and Employment Operational Program (PO ISE), to their inclusion and well-being.
CERCIG is the coordinating entity of the PO APMC in the municipalities of Guarda and Sabugal, where it is dedicated to the distribution of food aid. We currently support more than 622 people, ensuring that the most vulnerable families have access to essential food, contributing to the improvement of their living conditions.
